Spencer, IA (KICD)--The Spencer Hy Vee unveils its status as a certified Blue Zones grocery store this (Friday) morning.

Store Director Carl Haidar tells KICD News that this program lines up well with Hy Vee's mantra.



Haidar says they will be installing a Blue Zones checkout lane.



Haidar talks about the Hy Vee Nu Val system which rates food and drinks on a 1-100 scale based on their nutritional value.



Haidar says the are all in on the Blue Zones front.



Other entities in Spencer to earn the Blue Zones certification include the Spencer Hospital, Farmers Bank, and Fareway.
