MTV's 'Jersey Shore' to end after sixth season

The upcoming sixth season of hit "Jersey Shore" will be its last.

The MTV series which introduced the world to party-loving Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi, Jenni 'JWoww' Farley, Paul 'Pauly D' DelVecchio and Michael 'The Situation' Sorrentino launched in 2009 and recently wrapped filming its latest episodes in New Jersey.

Now network bosses have announced there will be no more new installments following season six, which premieres in October.

"Jersey Shore" has spawned two spin-off shows, "Snooki & JWoww" and "The Pauly D Project." It is not yet clear whether those will continue.

Snooki now has more important things on her mind than partying and living it up as a TV star - she became a new mom at the weekend
