Spencer, IA (KICD)--A Spencer man accused of badly beating another person faces and additional felony charge.

Spencer Police Chief Mark Lawson tells KICD News that 21-year-old Christopher Fitzpatrick was taken into custody Wednesday after officers forced their way into an apartment in the 500 block of 2nd Avenue Southeast.  Ftizpatrick initially refused to come to the door which led to the forced entry.

Early Tuesday morning 59-year-old Edward Kitto was found badly beaten in the back yard of a home.  Kitto was taken to Spencer Hospital and later life flighted to Sioux Falls where he was last listed in critical condition.

Fitzpatrick has been charged with a class C felony count of willful injury and now faces a class B felony charge of 1st degree robbery.  He is being held in Clay County jail on a $150,000 bond.

21-year-old Cody Millard of Spencer faces a charge of interference with official acts in connection.

Additional arrests are expected as this investigation continues.
