O’Brien County Attorney Micah Schreurs said that Jeffrey Chrestiansen was convicted and sentenced on August, 6th, for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner’s Consent, an aggravated misdemeanor. Mr. Chrestiansen must pay a fine, various surcharges and court costs, and victim restitution in the amount of $1,680 for damage done to the truck.
Chrestiansen was also sentenced to a two-year term of imprisonment with the Iowa Department of Corrections. Chrestiansen, who had been on parole for two felony offenses, must serve his new prison sentence after completing his revoked sentence for those prior offenses.
According to police reports, Chrestiansen took the Kenworth truck during the early morning hours of June 9th. GPS tracking from the truck and video surveillance at various northwest Iowa businesses confirmed that Mr. Chrestiansen then drove the truck on a 148-mile joyride that included stops at Siouxpreme Egg Products in Sioux Center and the Le Mars Truck Stop in Le Mars.
The Sheldon Police Department assisted with the investigation of Mr. Chrestiansen.
