Sioux Falls, SD (MTN-KICD)--A stiff breeze and continued dry conditions have prompted weather officials to issue a red flag warning across a small portion of northwest Iowa, southwestern Minnesota, and southeastern South Dakota  starting this afternoon.

The National Weather Service says the area from Jackson down through northwestern Iowa and southeastern South Dakota will be ripe for wildfires from about 2:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. tonight.

During this time period any fires that develop will spread rapidly.  Citizens are asked to postpone any outdoor burning due to the combination of gusty winds, low humidity values, and very dry fuels.
