The Osceola County Sheriffs Office says the accident occurred Tuesday, on Highway 60, north of Ashton. A 1996 Kenworth semi and trailer driven by 74-year old Marlin Howard, of Lincoln Nebraska, was northbound, when the semi went off onto the right shoulder of the highway.
Howard attempted to correct his steering and overcorrected, causing the front axle on the trailer to strike a guardrail on the right shoulder of the roadway of Hwy 60. The trailer, owned by E & E Trucking of Waverly, Nebraska, sustained approximately $8,000 damage. The guardrail, owned by the Iowa Department of Transportation sustained approximately $3,500 damage. No injuries were reported.
