Le Mars, IA (KICD)--A Sioux City man faces an attempted murder charge from the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office.

A pair of rural Sioux City men were riding their bicycles on Highway 12 in rural Plymouth County shortly before 7:30 Sunday morning, when a Ford Explorer was approaching them from the south. The vehicle slowed and while passing them, presented a firearm out the driver side of the vehicle and discharged several rounds at them. They took cover in the ditch and called 911.

The vehicle was located about four miles north of the incident at which time 22-year-old Terry Lee Oliver Jr. and 20-year-old Cesar Teodoro Gonzalez, both of Sioux City, fled the vehicle and ran into a wooded area along the Big Sioux River. Officers pursued the pair who were apprehended without incident.

Oliver was charged with a class B felony count of attempted murder.  Gonzalez was held on a material witness warrant.

No one was injured. The weapon was recovered in a wooded area by a Woodbury County canine.
