SCT: Winnie the Pooh

Spencer, IA (SCT)--Spencer Community Theatre welcomes audiences to Disney’s Winnie the Pooh: Kids and the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh (Rhyan Busch) is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals Tigger (Aleena Lawson), Piglet (Makenna Pierce), Rabbit (Ashley Schuster), Eeyore (Gabbi Carpenter) and Owl (Ruby O’Hagan), but soon discovers that Christopher Robin (Saige Mayes) has been captured by the Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship, and sharing snacks.

Winnie the Pooh: Kids is a delightful new show based on the beloved characters of A.A. Milne and the 2011 Disney animated feature film.

SCT’s production features a cast of 50 children between the ages of 6 and 14 from Spencer and the surrounding communities. Directed by Education Intern Meghan Vosberg, with Music Direction Intern Jonathan Posthuma serving as music director, the production also features many area teens and adults serving as team members who’ve helped do all the things that need to be done for a big theatrical production. From those leading the production (director, music director, choreographer, stage manager) to those who’ve helped to design and make costumes, build and paint the set, gather and create props, and crew the show, 84 people- mostly kids- have contributed to help make the show the magical event it will be.

Winnie the Pooh: Kids opens Thursday, Aug. 2 at 7:30 p.m. with an ice cream social immediately following the performance. Performances continue to run Friday, Aug. 3 and Saturday, Aug. 4 at 7:30 with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Aug. 5. Tickets may be reserved through the SCT Box Office at (712) 262-7336.
