Spencer, IA (KICD)--Two Clay County men are jailed in connection to an assault.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the assault took place around 3:00 a.m. last Friday at the Little Sioux River access located at 420th Street and 270th Avenue near Gillette Grove.

24-year-old Christopher Marble of Spencer and 30-year-old Joseph Vanderske of Royal have been arrested in charged.  Marble turned himself into the Clay County Jail after a warrant was issued and was charged with assault causing bodily injury.  Vanderske was arrested at his home on Wednesday and was charged with assault with intent to cause serious injury.  Both were held to appear before the Magistrate.

Marble was arrested as well on Wednesday on 5 Clay County arrest warrants on the original charges of possession of a controlled substance 1st and 2nd offense, Driving While Revoked, Driving Under Suspension and No Proof of Insurance.  He was held on a $6,000 cash only bond on these charges.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A Storm Lake man is jailed following a Wednesday evening domestic assault investigation.

The victim told Storm Lake Police  that her husband had physically assaulted her at her residence and at one point took her cell phone preventing her from calling 911.  She was transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center by ambulance where she was treated for her injures sustained in the assault.

The suspect, 26-year-old William Reyes, fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police.  After searching for Reyes all day Thursday he turned himself in at the police station in the evening.

Police charged Reyes with Domestic Assault Causing Bodily Injury 2nd Offense and Obstruction of Emergency Communications. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Two from Wall Lake face theft charges.

Storm Lake Police reviewed security video footage and observed a male and female allegedly leave Wal-Mart with over $1,000 in unpaid merchandise in May.  26-year-old Benjamin Harms and 25-year-old Lynnzie Solsma were each arrested Thursday on a class D felony count of 2nd degree theft.

Both were booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond each.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Multiple charges are filed in connection to a fight at the Sail Inn Thursday evening.

Storm Lake Police learned that 41-year-old Akur Guang of Storm Lake had allegedly physically assaulted another woman in the parking lot at the motel.  It is alleged as well that Guang left a 2 year old child she was watching in an apartment with no supervision.

Guang faces charges of Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Child Endangerment. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,600 cash bond.

Sioux City, IA (KICD)--A man who illegally re-entered the United States from Mexico will spend 16 months in federal prison.

Last week 36-year-old Sergio Govea-Lopez received the prison term is U.S. District Court following a guilty plea to one count of illegal re-entry. At the guilty plea,
Govea-Lopez admitted he was deported from the United States on October 6th of 2004.  He was taken into custody by Homeland Security in January while he was incarcerated in the O’Brien County jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, third offense.

Govea-Lopez must also serve a 2 year term of
supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
