Spencer, IA (KICD)--Nearly 100 citizens took part in Monday night's Blue Zones public meeting as a part of the "Blueprint" Phase.

Engagement Lead Erin Pingel tells KICD News that while Spencer has been chosen as a demonstration site, the journey to earning the designation of a Blue Zones Community has just begun.



You can take the Blue Zones Pledge by logging onto www.bluezonesproject.com.  Pingel says it is a simple sign up process that can also be done along with texting.



Those who are not the computer type can also fill out a personal paper pledge.



The Spencer Blue Zones leadership team is located in the Spencer School Administration building.  You can find more info on their Facebook page as well.  Additional community meetings in this "Blueprint" phase take place this Thursday and Tuesday from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM at the Spencer Schools Central Administration Building.  Thursday's meeting will focus on Community and School Initiatives.  Next Tuesday's meeting topic is Restaurants, Grocery Stores, and Worksites.
