Corn Crop Running Out Of Moisture

Spencer, IA: (Jul 06, 2012) - Last week’s Crops report from the Iowa NASS office showed soil moisture levels declining sharply.

Iowa State University Field Agronomist for Northwest Iowa Paul Kassel says the corn crop in northwest Iowa is getting pretty thirsty.

Kassel says modern corn hybrids are pretty good at getting pollinated. But, he says moisture is needed for the next state – kernel fill.

Scattered light showers are in the forecast for northwest Iowa for the next week.
