Spencer, IA (KICD)--The Spencer City Council wraps up some business for the budgeting year in a rapid special session Thursday evening.
City Manager Bob Fagen tells KICD News the annual practice of authorizing a permanent transfer of funds as the fiscal year comes to a close took place.
This practice held to keep the city's funding solvent.
Bill Hemme is set to join the Airport Board of Trustees for a new 4-year-term. Steve Fox, Larry Slota, and Dennis Manley have 4-year appointments to the Golf Course Board of Trustees lined up. Kristen Souder is in line for a 3-year-term on the Historic Preservation Commission. The Library Board of Trustees will welcome Audrey Wheeler and Michael Olson for 6-year-terms. New 6-year-terms on the Park board will be filled by Kim Bates and Cindy Greer. Craig Wampler and Marjorie Eeten are in line to serve 5-year-terms on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Dave Cronk will serve a 6-year-term on the Utilities Board of Trustees, and Don Baxter and Mark Lykke are lined up to serve 5-year-terms on the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Council appointments include 4-year-terms on the Electrical Board of Examiners for Steve McAllister and Steve Nolting with Jarold Krogman joining the Plumbing Board of Examiners for the same time frame. Randy Cauthron, Mary Jean Montgomery, and John Goede are in line for 3-year-terms on the Renaissance Initiative Committee.
Mayor Reynold Peterson noted that they have made significant progress in making the city's boards and commisions more gender balanced.
