Spencer, IA (KICD)--Iowa's Lieutenant Governor visits Northwest Iowa Tuesday.

Kim Reynolds spoke with KICD News following a tour of Maurer Manufacturing of Spencer. 



Reynolds says when she tours across the state, she finds that many companies have plenty of good paying positions they cannot fill.  She hopes that the recently launched Skilled Iowa Initiative should help in that regard.



Another part of the Skilled Iowa Initiative is utilization of the National Career Readiness Certificate.



Reynolds says that getting students excited about traditional "blue collar" jobs is key.



Additional stops in the region for Reynolds on Tuesday included  Little Sioux Corn Processors in Marcus and Ag Processing Inc. of Emmetsburg.
