Country singer Miranda Lambert is overjoyed after her husband Blake Shelton agreed to let her keep an abandoned dog she found on the side of the road.

The animal-loving star has made a habit of rescuing stray pooches, and just last month the Over You hitmaker discovered a pup next to a busy freeway.

Lambert named the dog Loretta and had planned on finding it a suitable new home, but she grew emotionally attached and begged Shelton to let her keep it - and now she's gotten her way.

In a post on her Twitter.com page alongside a picture of the black mutt, she writes, "It's official! Blake said we could keep Loretta! She is happy!" (CL/WNTWT/PAW)
