Okoboji, IA (KICD)--Dickinson County authorities respond to the first tragedy of the summer in Okoboji.
A 26-year-old woman apparently drowned Sunday morning on East Lake Okoboji. Dickinson County Sheriff Greg Baloun says Jennifer Johnson of Estherville was reported missing in a 9-1-1 call shortly before 2:00 Sunday morning. She was apparently swimming from a boat with friends when she disappeared.
The Arnolds Park/Okoboji Dive Team was called to the boat ramp across from the Okoboji Kum and Go along with the Spirit Lake Fire Department's water rescue team, the DNR Lakes Patrol, Dickinson County Emergency Management Team, Lakes regional healthcare ambulance crew, and police departments from Okoboji, Arnolds Park, and Milford.
Emergency officials conducting a shoreline search discovered Johnson's body in East Lake Okoboji at 6:45 yesterday morning in an area west of the Chalstrom Beach condominiums
