Rock Valley, IA (KICD)--A noon hour motorcycle mishap Wednesday leads to injuries for a Rock Valley man.

41-year-old Brent Maasen was heading east Highway 18 on a 1995 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle  near Rock Valley as 66-year-old Donald Ovre of Larchwood was driving a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup from a driveway onto 18.  At this time Ovre collided with the bike.

Maassen was transported to the Hegg Memorial Hospital by the Rock Valley Ambulance for treatment of his injuries. Ovre was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

The Sioux County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Rock Valley Police and Fire Departments.

Doon, IA (KICD)--A Boyden woman is taken to the hospital following a semi versus car mishap Tuesday.

The Lyon County Sheriff says 39-year-old Paul Techetter of Ethan, SD was driving a 2005 Peterbuilt semi truck north on 75 just before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.  At this time 53-year-old Karen Ver Meer was driving a 2008 Chevy Impala west bound on county road A-52. Karen stopped at the stop sign located at the intersection of 75 and A-52 and then proceeded to try and cross the road.  Due to the hillcrest she did not see Techetter until he came over the hill. Paul tried to stop and took evasive action in an attempt to get around Ver Meer, but could not and struck the back driver side of Karen's vehicle. Ver Meer's vehicle spun around numerous times and entered the northwest ditch. Her vehicle went through a fence before coming to a stop in the corn field.

Ver Meer was transported to the hospital for non life threatening injuries.

Those assisting include Doon Fire and Rescue, Lyon County Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol, and the Sioux County Sheriff's Department.

Orange City, AI (KICD)--Authorities are looking into a pair of business burglaries.

In both burglaries, 50 gallon barrels containing machine-milled pieces of aluminum and brass scrap metal valued at over $1,000 were taken.
Also taken was over $200 in cash, NASCAR replica cars, tokens for a vintage slot machine, and several roles of postage stamps.
