Des Moines, IA (KICD)--A program designed to honor the sacrifices that veterans have made throughout history to protect our freedoms, including the sacred right to vote is launched by Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz.

The "Vote in Honor of a Veteran" program can be found on the Iowa Secretary of State's website, www.sos.iowa.gov, with those who sign up able to leave a message or written tribute for veterans or active-duty military personnel.  Participants who register will also receive a special lapel pin, and are encouraged to wear the pin on Election Day this November.

Schultz will be on hand in Arnolds Park Thursday morning for an "Honor a Veteran" event.  This will take place at the Hedberg Theatre, Maritime Museum at 8:00 a.m.  Scultz will also visit the Sioux Center Library at 10:30.
