Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)--A large street construction project in Spirit Lake will impact residents in town.

City Administrator Mark Stevens tells KICD News that the Lake Street Reconstruction project should begin in the next couple of weeks.



The project will directly impact all residents and users along Lake Street from the Highway to Gary Avenue.



Sections of Lake street will be closed for the next few months so an alternate route needs to be used and residents will need to park off site when the street in front of their house is closed.  The cost to complete this project is approximately $900,000.

Stevens says the City Council is scheduled to approve construction of the Memorial Park Project at its June 26 meeting.



Most of Memorial Park will be undergoing some form of improvement so the city plans to close the park after the July 4t holiday.  Some trees. about 5, will need to be taken down unfortunately, but this was necessary for the improvements to fit within the space. The city will plant more trees in the park than were taken out.  The estimated cost is $650,000.
