Spencer, IA: (Jun 01, 2012) - The Old P.O. Restaurant in Sutherland has been selected as the first honoree in the Bower’s Best Burger contest.
 
KICD Radio personality George Bower in early May solicited nominations from listeners for the best burger establishments in northwest Iowa in recognition of “May, Beef Month.”
 
Bower narrowed the nominations to the top three establishments, each of which he visited and sampled their burger offerings.
 
Weasy’s in Spencer, Lon’s Lounge in Peterson, and the Old P.O. in Sutherland made Bower’s “top-three” list.  The top burger was “the whiskey burger” at the Old P.O, where Angela Powell is the owner.
 
As the 2012 winner, the Old P.O. will receive $250 and a plaque.
