CME Group Wants Early Pit Trades On Report Days
Spencer, IA: (May 29, 2012) - The CME Group says it wants to expand the floor trading hours on days when USDA reports are released.
Pending certification by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), pit trading at the Chicago Board of Trade will be moved up to 7:20 a.m. on mornings when specified USDA reports are released.
CME says the major reports that would initiate an early opening include the WASDE reports, crop production, prospective plantings and acreage reports.
The early pit trading would begin with the June 12th WASDE & Crop Production reports, if the CFTC approves the request.
Outside of USDA report days, the open-outcry trading hours will continue to open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 1:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.
