Ground Broken For Spencer Pioneer Facility

Spencer, IA: (May 23, 2012) - A groundbreaking ceremony was held in Spencer Thursday for a 200 thousand square foot regional distribution center for Pioneer Hi-Bred.

The Spencer site will receive seed from Pioneer’s production centers in Algona, Cherokee, Renwick and Jackson, Minnesota, and distribute it to seed dealers throughout the Upper Midwest – according to Pioneer Hi-Bred Regional Account Manager Gary Hamer.

This warehouse announcement is in addition to several other Pioneer expansion projects in Iowa, including a new corn research center in Orange City.

Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey attended the ribbon cutting at that research facility and spoke at the Spencer groundbreaking on Thursday. He called Pioneer a “great company with a great (Iowa) legacy,” but Northey said projects like the one in Spencer are about the future.
