Spencer, IA (KICD)--KICD News will be joining with area media for a debate on Thursday evening.

Republicans Megan Hess and Josh Davenport are vying for the Republican nomination for the new House District 2 post.  Democrat Steve Bomgaars has no listed challenger for the June 5th primary.

The debate will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the council chambers of Spencer City Hall.  Each candidate will have a chance to make an opening statement.  Questions will then be posed by the media panel and audience in attendance.  Audience questions will be submitted and asked through the debate moderator.  Each candidate will be given a chance for closing comments once the question portion of the meeting is complete.  Those not able to attend can watch the debate live on SMU Cable channel 2.

The newly created House District 2 includes all of Clay and Palo Alto Counties and the southern 3rd of Dickinson County.
