Spencer, IA (KICD)--Thousands are expected to visit Spencer on Saturday, weather permitting, for the regional State Large Group Speech Contest.

Spencer Speech Coach Larry Untiet tells KICD News that around 2,000 students from approximately 100 schools in the northwest portion of the state are set to be on hand.



Large group speech can best be described as competitive theater.



The public is welcome to attend with a $3 donation suggested.  All money raised stays with the Spencer speech and drama department.



Anyone interested in volunteering to be a room host, timer, or concession worker, can contact the Spencer High School at 262-1700.

14 groups comprised of 69 students from Spencer will be taking part in this weekend's activities.
