JOHNSTON, IA: Jan. 04, 2012 – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) said Tuesday night’s Iowa Caucus results were a big victory for renewable fuels such as ethanol and biodiesel.
IRFA Past President Walt Wendland says former Governor Mitt Romney and former Senator Rick Santorum each expressed support for the federal renewable fuels standard while campaigning in Iowa. In addition, Wendland says both candidates were 4-for-4 on ethanol issues according to the Association’s Caucus Voter Guide.
Wendland said “It came as no surprise to us that friends of ethanol fared well in the Iowa Caucus.”
Representative Michele Bachmann and Texas Governor Rick Perry refused to support the renewable fuels standard. They are both headed home today.
