Dickinson County City Candidates



Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)--The deadline to file for city positions and be on the ballot this November has passed

For Dickinson County in Okoboji Mayor Mary Vanderwoude will be joined on the ballot by Leo Butch Parks. Incumbent Councilmembers Jim Delperdang and Jim Hentges will be joined on the ballot by Will Kretsinger.

Terril will have a new Mayor with newcomer Elwin Clark the lone listed candidate. Incumbent councilmembers Julie Thiesen and Darrell Woods Jr. will be joined on the ballot by Brian Brawner, Scot Matthews, Todd Nissen, and Matt Van Kleek to fill three spots.

All incumbents will run unopposed in Spirit Lake including Mayor Blaine Andera and councilmembers Kevin Bice, Jerry Harbst, and Jeff Thee. There is a bond issue on the ballot to fund a new city hall.

In Milford Mayor Don Lamb will run unopposed. Incumbents Rick Kilts and Todd Schillinger will face off against Don Olsen for two open seats on the council. Also in Milford there is a Hotel/Motel Tax question on the ballot.

Wahpeton Mayor Frank Joenks will run without a challenge. Incumbents Bradley Jones and Phillip Johnson will be joined by Norman Pixler to fill three open council seats.

There is no declared candidate for Orleans Mayor. James Jackson and Bill Maas will run unopposed for two open council seats.

In Lake Park Mayor John Engel is running for another term unchallenged. Incumbent John Woods and Arthur Schumaker are running for two council seats.

There are no contested races in Superior with incumbents Mayor Everett Houge and councilmembers Michael Roach, Kevin Swalve, and Rachel Gaustad on file.

In Arnolds Park all incumbents are running without a challenge on the ballot. This includes Mayor Michael Mitchell and councilmembers John Adams Sr., Jason Christensen, and James Jensen.

In West Okoboji all incumbents will run unopposed including Mayor Larry Traughbauer and councilmembers Paul Haywood, James Ladegaard, and Marcia Peterson.

KICD News will debut a listing of candidates from one county in the listening area each day during the noon newscast.

Elections will be held November 8th.
