Sanborn, IA (KICD) -- Two Omaha men were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop.
The O'Brien County Sheriff's Office says the stop was made around 5-pm Tuesday, 3 and one-half miles west of Sanborn, on Highway 18.
An O'Brien County Sheriff stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation, and after investigation of suspicious activity by the occupants of the vehicle, the deputy found approximately 3 and a quarter pounds of processed marijuana in the vehicle.
Originally the passenger in the vehicle gave a false name, officers investigating were able to obtain his correct identity, learning the subject was wanted on a federal arrest warrant out of Omaha, Nebraska.
The driver, 62-year old Harold Taylor was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. The passenger, 31-year old Edward Smith was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent To Deliver, ad Failure To Affix A Drug Tax Stamp, both class D felonies. He was also arrested on the outstanding federal warrant.
Both were taken to the O'Brien County Jail and booked on the charges. The bond for Smith was set at $10,000. The bond for Taylor was set at $1000. Both will make appearances in District Court at a later date.
Assisting in the case was the Sanborn Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and the Sioux County Sheriff;'s Office K-9 Team.
