Car vs Train Accident



Lyon County, IA (KICD) -- Four people were injured in a car - train accident in Lyon County.

  Just after 9 Tuesday evening, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office investigated a car versus train accident  at the intersection of 120th Street and Dogwood Avenue.

   19-year old Jessica Knobloch of Doon was southbound  in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, and was turning west onto 120th Street, when the car was struck by a ballast regulator, operated by Jeff Dolge of Sioux Falls.

   Knobloch and a passenger, 27-year old Clifford Logan of Rock Rapids were transported to Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids by Lyon County Ambulance.  They were treated for minor injuries  Another passenger in the car, 19-year old Jessie Bathke of George was transported to Sanford in Luverne, Minnesota, and then was taken to Sanford in Sioux Falls, to be treated for minor injuries.   A fourth passenger in the Pontiac,  25-year old Candra Knobloch of Rock Rapids was air lifted to Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, and treated for her injuries.

   Knobloch's Pontiac sustained approximately $6000 in damages, while the ballast regulator sustained approximately $5000.  the accident remains under investigation. 

   Also assisting was the Lester Fire and Rescue, Larchwood Emergency Medical Service, and Hills Fire and Rescue .
