Wedebrand Denied Parole

Spencer, IA (KICD) — A man convicted in a murder is denied parole.

Ryan Wedebrand was sentenced to life in prison, without parole for the kidnapping and killing of Gregory “Sky” Erickson, in 1997. In 2012, the US Supreme Court ruled a minor could not be sentenced to that, and could then request a resentencing.

In May, Wedebrand was resentenced to include the possibility of parole, but at an appearance before the parole board last week, Wedebrand was denied parole, and won’t be up for consideration again until 2015.
