Walleye Weekend Rule Change

Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–For 31 years the Iowa Great Lakes Walleye Weekend has been a live fishing tournament.

Iowa Great Lakes Chamber of Commerce Program Director Jen Johnson tells KICD News in an effort to protect area lakes from aquatic invasive species, they will now run harvest tournaments where recently caught fish will not have to be kept alive for turn-in at area bait shops.

Johnson says they are expecting around 2,000 people to enter the Walleye Weekend tournament in search of the $32,000 grand prize.

To enter Iowa Great Lakes Great Walleye Weekend on May 3rd and 4th, please visit www.okobojichamber.com or register at The Chamber Office in Arnolds Park, Fisherman’s Factory Outlet or one of the bait shops in the Iowa Great Lakes Area.
