Truck Vs. Tractor Accident

Everly, IA (KICD)–A truck versus Tractor and hay wagon accident on Sunday ended with severe injuries for an Everly man.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 66-year-old Karl Brandt was heading south in the 3500 mile of M-27 on Sunday on a 1950 Ferguson Tractor and hay wagon. 16-year-old Bailey Stimson of Everly was also heading south in a 1999 Ford F-350 and was distracted by items that fell on the floor. When he saw he was approaching the tractor he attempted to brake, but was unable to avoid colliding with the hay rack. Brandt’s tractor was pushed into the east ditch.

Brandt was transported to the Spencer Hospital with incapacitating injuries was released and was later life flighted. Stimson was cited for following too close.

Everly Fire and Rescue and Spencer Ambulance assisted on scene.
