Thursday Weather Roundup

Area (KICD-NWS)–Flash flooding, hail, and high winds came to parts of the KICD listening area on Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service reported hail up to 1.25 inches in Spirit Lake at 4:00 and 1-inch hail in Sioux and Lyon Counties a bit later with the hail stopping shortly after 5:30 p.m.  A caller says hail northeast of Terrill will have them replanting.

Flash flooding was reported at 4:22 as a pair of cars stalled in street flooding on Peoria Avenue in Spirit Lake.  A high wind of 50 miles per hour came in Spirit Lake as well.

The weather service says a tornado touched down outside of Sioux Falls during an isolated thunderstorm north of Canton yesterday afternoon.  Funnel clouds were spotted in at least two occasions as the system moved toward Sioux Falls.
