Storm Lake House Fire

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Storm Lake Firefighters were called out Friday morning.

Personnel arrived at 304 West 3rd Street shortly after 9:30 and found smoke from the residence and an evacuated home. Fire fighters entered and encountered heavy smoke in the house and attic as well as a small fire in a wall near the furnace. The fire was extinguished and smoke was ventilated from the home.

One occupant was evaluated by on scene paramedics but was not transported. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is believed to be a malfunctioning furnace. Fire, smoke and water damage is estimated at $10,000.

The fire department was on scene for approximately one hour.
