Storm Boat Capsizing


No injuries were reported in a boat capsizing in Storm Lake .

On Monday, the Buena Vista County Sheriff s Office received a call of a boat with 4 people had capsized north of Bel-Air beach. Upon arrival, Sheriff s Deputies observed another boater that had stopped and helped the sinking boaters, by pulling the capsized boat, and giving the 4 occupants a ride back to Bel-Air beach dock.

Once on shore, it was determined that the occupants of the boat, who were not wearing life jackets at the time, As a result, Joell Figueroa-Ramirez, Adrian Reyes, Alfredo Reyes and Andres Espana all of Storm Lake, were cited by the DNR for not having lifejackets on a boat. The occupants also left the dock at Bel-Air beach, after which the boat started take on water and started to sink.
