Spirit Lake Accident


Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — 4 people are injured in a 2 vehicle accident in Spirit Lake.
  The Iowa State Patrol said the accident occurred Monday afternoon around 4:52, at the intersection of 23rd Street and Highway 71.  A 2006 Chevy van, driven by 24-year old Nicole Hike of Spirit Lake was westbound on 23rd Street, and crossing Highway 71, under a green light.  As the van was crossing, it was struck in the passenger side, by a southbound 2007 Ford Ranger pickup, driven by 39-year old Gregory Williams of Milford, which had failed to stop for the red light.
  Neither driver was injured, but 4 passengers in the van, 23-year old George Laddehoff and 31-year old Keona Jenkins both of Whiting, along with 54-year old Phyllis Laddehof of Milford and Mason Van Lenning of Spirit Lake were all injured and taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare.
  The van received an estimated $7600 in damage, while the pickup had an estimated $5000 in damage.  Williams was cited for Failure To Obey a Traffic Control Device.
