Spencer Schools Preliminary Fine Arts Center Plans

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer School District is looking into the possibility of constructing a new fine arts center and auditorium.
Last month the district hired Cannon Moss Brygger & Associates to look into building a fine arts center at the high school.

Spencer Superintendent Terry Hemann tells KICD News that they are looking to build on the south end of the high school to the west of the tech ed building.

Architects are currently figuring out the needs for the district with a 750 seat auditorium floated as the capacity.  The school board will meet with the architects at a special meeting on January 14th.
Preliminary cost estimates for the project are in the $8 million range and would be paid for out of the district’s state penny sales tax revenues.
