Spencer School Board Meets

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer School Board met in regular session Tuesday evening.
Superintendent Terry Hemann tells KICD News that after 7 years with the district High School Principal Joe Mueting is going to retire.

Spencer High School has roughly 600 students and nearly 100 staff members.
Hemann discussed the district’s current financial situation which is highlighted by a solvency ratio of 16.5 percent.

Recently passed legislation now allows school district to have either 180 days of school as always or the new option of 1,080 hours of school time.

The first day of school for the 2014-15 year is set for August 26th.
