Spencer Plane Emergency

Spencer, IA (KICD) — A plane makes an emergency landing at the Spencer Airport.

Around 11:15 Monday morning, the Spencer Fire Department was dispatched to the Northwest Iowa Regional Airport, after a plane declares an emergency landing, due to smoke in the cockpit.

Upon arrival, the department was told the plane had landed safely, and there was no fire found by the pilot. The planeowned by Aviation Charter Inc of Eden Prairie, Minnesota had just taken off from Spencer on a return flight, when the pilot noticed the smoke. He then shut down all electrics, and started emergency procedures. The cause of the smoke was not given.

Assisting at the scene was the Spencer Police, Spencer Hospital Ambulance, and Northwest Regional Airport Staff.
