Spencer Council Review

Spencer Council Review

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer City Council approved the purchase 6.39 acres of land that abuts the City’s transfer station at Monday night’s meeting.

Public Works Director Mark White tells KICD News there are two primary benefits that come with this purchase.

The total cost of the land is $88,000 or approximately $13,771 per acre.

The council also approved the removal of the railroad line between West 11th Street and West 12th Street. City Manager Bob Fagen says a trail around North Park had previously been authorized, but at the time the DOT would not allow for the track to be removed.

Approval of an application for a State Recreation Grant for the Iowa Great Lakes Trail Connection was also approved last night.
