Spencer Council Preview

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer City Council will convene this evening.

A Progress & Development Committee meeting will take place prior to the regular session. Agenda items include discussion on the Noteboom Implement and Dollar Tree Development projects and a request from Christ the King Lutheran Church for 2 directional signs.

The regular meeting will kick off with a presentation of the 2013-14 fiscal year audit.

The 2nd filing of ordinances calling for planned rate increases is on the docket. Solid waste fees will be going up by 2 percent for the next 3 fiscal years. The 2 percent represents an approximate 32 cents per month increase for residential use. Wastewater service charges with be going up by 4 percent the next 3 years. That increase represents a monthly increase of about 80 cents per 1000 gallons of water used. The ordinances also set out an increase in the CSI charge of $1.25 per month each year for the next five years that will be used strictly for paying for costs associated with the EPA mandate the City of Spencer is under.

Tonight’s Progress & Development Committee meeting will start at 5:45 and the Spencer City Council’s regular meeting will start at 6:30 in the council chambers of Spencer City Hall.
