Spencer Citizen’s Police Academy

Spencer, IA (KICD)–Signup is underway for the 12th edition of the Spencer Citizen’s Police Academy.

Police Chief Mark Lawson tells KICD News that the class size is limited with students selected from the submitted applications.

Lawson says they cram a lot of topics into the class that meets each Tuesday starting March 4th through May 6th at 6:30 with class ending between 8:00 and 8:30.

Lawson says the class will also head up to Estherville to use their firearm training system.

The deadline to apply for the 2014 Spencer Citizen’s Police Academy is February 17th with applications available at the Spencer Police Department.  There is a $35 fee to cover the cost of materials.  The academy is open to all area residents of Northwest Iowa.
