Spencer, IA: (Jan. 06, 2014) – That fund that was established to help western South Dakota cattlemen who lost thousands of animals in the early October blizzard has far surpassed the original goal.
The original goal was to collect one million dollars to help cattlemen with their short-term needs. By the end of 2013, the fund was in excess of three million dollars. Donations were collected from more than 5000 groups and individuals.
Applications for assistance have already been processed for almost 400 livestock producers. The remaining funds will be distributed in the next few months.
