SMU Generating Power

SMU Generating Power

Spencer, IA (KICD)–Citizens in the city of Spencer may have noticed the sound of the Spencer Municipal Utilities jet powered generator in operation on Wednesday.
Often times that is reserved for extremely hot days when electric demand is heavy.  Electric Manager Roger Morris tells KICD News that wasn’t the case as they were asked to generate by their electric supplier.

Morris says while the work has been finished, the suppliers did tell SMU to be on standby for a possible electrical emergency today and tomorrow.  The reasoning in unknown but Morris speculated that it could have something to do with storms on the east coast which have caused over 1 million customers to be without power.

Morris would like the public to know that just because they are generating power, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a local issue.
