SMU Fiber To Home Project Continues

Spencer, IA (KICD)–Spencer Municipal Utilities is continuing to expand fiber to the home service.

Marketing and Community Relations Manager Amanda Gloyd tells KICD News this method of delivering services will replace the existing copper infrastructure such as telephone wires and coaxial cable.

Gloyd says the that internet usage continues to increase.

Last fall approximately 700 customers were put on the fiber to the home grid and work will begin early this fall on an approximate $4.5 million project for nearly 2,000 additional homes and businesses in Spencer.
