Washington, DC (KICD) — A Sioux Central student has been appointed to the US Air Force Academy.  Sioux Central Superintendent Scott Williamson shared the news of the announcement made this week by Senator Chuck Grassley’s office…

Katie is the daughter of Carol and Thomas Gibson, and will graduate in May from Sioux Central High School.  She has been very active through her high school days at Sioux Central, participating in volleyball, basketball, cross country, softball, individual speech club, 4-H, Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society and the Harlan Institute Program, a law-based debate club.

Williamson was very impressed by her focus on what she wanted to do after high school, as she filled out the application…

Gibson was also selected for admission to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Great Neck, N.Y., last month.

Gibson was among the 55 Iowans Grassley nominated this year for appointments to the U.S. service academies.
