Sibley Accident

Sibley, IA (KICD) — A Sheldon man was injured in a single vehicle accident.
  The Osceola County Sheriffs Office said shortly before 5-am January 2nd, 24-year old John Alt was driving a 1998 Chevy northbound on M-12, when his vehicle left the roadway, near the intersection with A48.  The Chevy went into the ditch continuing north, then colliding with a bridge embankment, going airborne over the bridge.
  The vehicle then struck a signpost then finally came to rest north of the bridge against the west creek bank.  Alt had to be extricated from the vehicle, and then was transported to Osceola Community Hospital, before being transferred to a Sioux Falls Hospital with serious injuries.
  Alt was cited with Failure to Maintain Control. There was $8000 damage to his vehicle.  Melvin and Ashton Ambulances and rescue assisted in the extrication and rescue.
