Royal House Fire

Royal House Fire

Royal, IA (KICD)–No one was injured in a Wednesday evening house fire in Royal.
Fire Chief Matt Goyette says they were called to a house on Main Street in Royal at 8:44 last evening and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the vents and eves.  The fire department took an offensive approach and ventilated
the roof, attacking the fire from the roof.  The fire was knocked down, and overhaul started. They removed a ceiling in a bed room exposing the attic area where the fire was, removed the insulation, and checked for hot spots.
Goyette says there will be some slight roof repair, and some ceiling repair in one bedroom, but it was within minutes from going the other way. The weather conditions were good, and the response time was great.
The fire department was on scene for 2 hours and the home owners were able to stay in the house last night.  The Everly Fire Department and Clay County Deputies assisted on scene.
