Rock Valley Accident


Rock Valley, IA (KICD) — Four were injured in a two vehicle collision east of Rock Valley.
  On Saturday morning, the Sioux County Sheriffs office said the accident occurred at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Highway 18.  16-year old Benjamin Aardema of Rock Valley was eastbound in a 1997 Buick LeSabre, then attempted to make a left turn onto Garfield Avenue.
  The Buick was then struck by a westbound 2011 Ford Fusion, driven by 66-year old Ronald Grothaus of Primghar.
Aardema was taken to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley by private vehicle. Grothaus and two other
passengers, 61-year old Sharon Grothaus, and 89-year old Evert Reuvers, both of Primghar, were all transported to Hegg Memorial Hospital by the Rock Valley Ambulance for minor injuries.

Aardema’s vehicle received approximately $7,500 damage; Grothaus’ vehicle received approximately $10,000 damage.  Aardema was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.

Assisting at the scene was the Rock Valley Police, Fire and Ambulance.
