Primghar House Fire

Primghar House Fire

Primghar, IA (KICD) — A Saturday fire destroyed a Primghar home.
Shortly before 3-am, the Primghar Fire Department was called to a residence 3 miles west of town, near the intersection of B40 and Redwing Avenue.    As fire crews were leaving Primghar they could see the fire, so the Paullina Fire Department was then called to assist.
By the time firetrucks arrived, the house was totally engulfed in flames, which were coming through the roof, causing it to cave in.  The house which was owned by Spring Kamp, was totally destroyed.  Strong winds helped to push the fire.  A detached garage was on fire, as well, but fire crews saved that.
There was no one home at the time of the blaze, and  the cause is yet undetermined.  The house had space heaters in it, but none were on.  It was reportedly called in by a passerby.

Fire crews were on scene for about an hour and a half, and were called back for a short time, after someone saw leftover smoke coming from the basement.
