Undated (KICD)–Primary elections are being held across the state today.
Locally in Clay County there are five Republican candidates up for three open seats on the Clay County Board of Supervisors including incumbents Ken Challstrom, Burlin Matthews, and Linda Swanson as well as Barry Anderson and Bob Raymer. Dickinson County features one local race for the District 4 Supervisor seat as Mike Wittrock is challenging incumbent Paul Johnson.
Sam Clovis, Joni Ernst, Mark Jacobs, Scott Schaben, and Matt Whitaker are looking to become the Republican nominee to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Tom Harkin. Bruce Braley is running unopposed on the Democrat ticket.
Kevin Klassen, John Wills, and Kevin Wolfswinkel are looking to fill the Iowa House District 1 seat that Jeff Smith is giving up.
You must be registered to a party to vote in today’s primary according to Clay County Auditor Marge Pitts. She says same day registration is available at your voting precinct.
