Paving Projects Come In Under Budget

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer City Council approved a pair of project bids that came in approximately $30,000 under budget on Monday evening.
City Engineer Jim Thiesse says they received five bids for the Parking Lot Improvement Project.

Vaughn Deloss Construction’s bid of $223,786.50 for the 2014 Fairway Woods First Addition PCC Paving Project came in well under the $245,000 estimate.

Thiesse talked about why he feels the bids came in under estimates.

Looking ahead bids for the 2014 East 18th Street Overlay Project are slated to come in on February 18th.  The estimated cost is $236,000 with $120,000 in federal funding and the remainder to be be paid out of the city’s Street Reserve Fund.
